Unveiling the Power of Information Marts in Data Vault 2.0
Greetings Data Vault power users,
In the Data Vault 2.0 architecture, Information Marts hold a crucial role in delivering actionable insights to end-users. While reminiscent of traditional data marts, within Data Vault 2.0, Information Marts are redefined for enhanced practicality.
I recently stumbled across a very interesting blog article about different types of information marts: scalefree.com/...
In a short summary, they mention six different types of Information Marts:
Information Marts: Tailored for business users, these provide insights through dashboards and reports, facilitating decision-making.
Metrics Mart: Linked with a Metrics Vault, it extracts insights from EDW log data. Ideal for performance analysis in self-service BI solutions.
Error Mart: A repository for records failing hard rules during data loading, aiding data quality management.
Interface Mart: Channels data to applications or source systems, facilitating data cleansing within the enterprise data warehouse.
Quality Mart: Focuses on reporting bad data, aiding data stewardship and problem resolution.
Source Mart: Adheres to source application data models, making it valuable for ad-hoc reporting and serving data scientists and power users.
While understanding the concept and value of each type, I honestly admit that I've only seen classic Information Marts and Source Marts in real life yet.
That's why I really want to know from you: which types are you typically using? What is your favorite benefit? Happy to read some shared insights!
